Dr. Olivia: training, qualifications, and bio
Dr. Olivia graduated with an associate’s degree with honors from the Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington MA in 2012, followed by a B.S. in Chemistry, summa cum laude, from Emory University in Atlanta in 2014. Prior to graduating from medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH in 2024, she taught high school math and science, as well as yoga, on the Rosebud Indian Reservation.
Dr. Olivia was trained in culinary medicine from Dr. Amy Sapola, PharmD and Chef Dr. Mike, MD, at the Culinary Vegetable Institute in Huron OH in 2022. She completed her Traditional Chinese Medicine training with Helms Medical Acupuncture in September 2025. She is presently completing her rural, full-scope Family Medicine Residency with MAHEC-Boone – she will graduate from residency in July 2027. She is able to practice medicine now at the golden lotus with her full, unrestricted, North Carolina medical license as she has completed her internship year at MAHEC-Boone, in good standing.
Dr. Olivia walks the walk she teaches patients – she herself receives care from acupuncturists, herbalists, whole-food nutritional healers, and many other integrative medicine practitioners. She eats and moves her body in alignment with the principles she teaches, which includes seeking balance, prioritizing self-love, and nourishing deeply. She is proud to be able to offer integrative care to patients, utilizing the Western training she has received to safely and appropriately assess patients for the need for conventional medical intervention.
In addition to her residency responsibilities, Dr. Olivia holds her CrossFit Level 2 certification and coaches at CrossFit Postal, where she can be found working out nearly every day (sometimes at 0430!). She also holds her Yoga Teacher Training 200-hr certification, though she does not teach yoga at this time. Dr. Olivia is proud to serve on the board of the Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture and use local food as medicine from the Food Hub with many of her patients.
what can you treat?
Acupuncture, nutritional interventions, herbal medicine, and whole-food supplementation can be used to help treat many conditions. Listed below are just some of the conditions these modalities can help to treat. Please note that acupuncture, nutritional intervention, herbal medicine, and supplementation are not appropriate as stand-alone therapies or first-line therapies for many of the conditions listed, but they can almost always be used alongside conventional medicine to support healing – and much research shows that utilizing these forms of healing with Western approaches to care can improve outcomes and patient experiences. Holistic, integrative modalities of healing work best when used often and early to help support your body. These modalities of healing can even benefit people who do not have any specific complaints.
